I'm a fat, sassy, tattooed, knittin' Mama. My days are filled with knitting, spinning, baking, reading, nature walking, marveling at my daughter's endless font of energy, fussing at aforementioned daughter in mean mommy tones for aforementioned energy and avoiding housework at all costs.
There will be a limited sewn-to-order update tonight (9pm eastern) in the shop. I love this shibori inspired cotton/linen slub. I can’t stop thinking of delicious swimming pools when I see it. (Hanging them next to my tomatoes for a moment as they could use some cool water vibes too!)
Hello all! Thanks to the awesome folks who contribute financially to the show, I have another bonus episode for you.
This won’t be a regular episode as I’ll be talking exclusively about my recently finished Magpie Tendency designed by Melissa Alexander-Loomis.
I’ll talk a little about the adaptations I made, my thoughts on styling the garment, and whether or not I would knit this sweater again.
So, I’m hesitant to publish the last 15 minutes or so of the podcast. Sometimes it seems kind of strange, and maybe even self-indulgent, to talk specifically about fat experiences. That said, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read things about fat folks being, essentially, afraid of doing everyday stuff. Afraid of showing their arms, afraid of going to the pool, afraid of going to the doctor, afraid of not fitting into an activity, and, well, it just breaks my heart, and sometimes that heartbreak manifests itself in these moments of what is maybe “too much.” If you think it’s too much, I am glad! It means you don’t need to hear that message. Hooray! But I”m leaving it in, because somebody else might.
